Ten Helpful Tips To Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

Did you know that Nona’s Auto Center in Turlock, California, is one of the very few certified hybrid service and repair centers in the Central Valley? It’s true!

When we started our business in 1979, our family business had a dream. We love cars and we have made it our personal goal to always stay on top of the ever-evolving automotive technology. We remember when cars were much simpler machines and didn’t have computers running inside them. Today, our modern vehicles typically have more than 100 computers, and it operates like a computer network on four wheels! Over the past 41 years, we have certainly seen a big evolution of automotive technology.

When hybrid vehicles were introduced to the marketplace, we jumped on the opportunity to learn everything we could about hybrid technology. We attended classes, sent our technicians through certification programs, studied how to recondition hybrid batteries, and so on. While most independent auto repair shops shy away from jumping into the deep end of the hybrid technology pool, we eagerly dove in head-first!

Pair our love for technology with our love for making the world a better place. That explains our leadership in Smog Testing. You see, we are a certified STAR Smog Station, which means we are a smog testing and smog repair shop that can make certain your vehicle passes California emissions testing. Smog testing every two years is the law, and we celebrate that because we love our home state and we want to do what we can to protect Mother Earth from air pollution.

Many of our friends and neighbors in the Turlock area also want to protect Mother Earth. As an agriculturally-focused community, our lives and livelihood depend upon it. If you wish to reduce your carbon footprint, here are some helpful tips on how to protect Mother Earth on a daily basis:

  1. Pick up litter each time you go for a walk or run and put it in a trash receptacle.

  2. Our area is prone to drought, so avoid wasting water whenever possible.

  3. When you leave the room, turn off the lights.

  4. Reduce your use of plastics whenever possible.

  5. Upcycle old house goods whenever possible; giving them a new purpose and a new look.

  6. Shop for gently-used clothing, shoes, and kitchen goods whenever possible.

  7. Recycle everything you possibly can.

  8. Reduce use of products that come in recyclable packaging.

  9. Take a walk and get some exercise instead of jumping in your car for a quick trip.

  10. Avoid doing anything that would set off fires. Not only will you reduce air pollution, but you’ll also help to prevent forest fires.

If you can do any or all of these ten small things on a daily basis, you are helping Mother Earth in large ways.
